# Expedition - Character Creation
## Character Creation
I'm still working on the system and the basic idea is your characters are defined by the skills they are good at and I want to build this system with you to tailor it to what you envision along with mine. I mean let's have some creating some really whacky story together.
These are the skills and I am thinking of having 15 Character Points (CP) and you can put them anywhere you want to select the mastery level of your skills with points costs in the parenthesis; Basic(1), Advanced(3), Expert(6) and Master(9).
The idea is to work with you to come up with certain specializations you can pick in each of the ranks.
### WIP - Creation steps
currently working on how to streamline the character creation methods and the current idea is to have profession, ideology and denizen. They offer available set of skills/traits and marks they can use.
1. Select Denizen
2. Select Color(s)
3. Select Profession
4. Select or Invest CP into Skills/Traits.
These three would give enough range of skillsets to pick the character.
#### Denizen
This is basically what other ttrpg calls it heritage or race. They would offer set of skills they are proficient as a result of their biological nature and environment they are suited to thrive in. Also provide Marks that are unique to them to use during encounters.
###### Table - Denizens of the Realm
| Name | Description |
| --------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| [[The Expedition - Leonsire]] | catfolks who are nimble and cunning |
| Elefolk | elephant folks who are large and powerful but slow. Lives long life. |
| Human | The most widespread and the most adoptable kind on the land. |
| Dracoheir | a group of reptilian who believes they are descendants of the dragons. |
| Chelonian | A turtle people with a shell on their backs, renown for far sailing merchant. |
| Bergherz | The dwarves stand in but I am not sure the details of it. |
| [[Expedition - Character - Bloodline - Dellenaire]] | stand in for the elves there are two types, magic attuned Eastern and druidic Western |
| [[Eranette]] | stand in for the halflings. Curious and knowledge seekers. |

### Color
This is inspired by Magic the Gathering and still working on how to make it work but the main concept is this is how an actor would behave and act - it is their philosophy of life. One thing I am working to define and refine are Yellow and Indigo, which is derived from White and Black from MTG and I want to put a different spin to it as for a long time those two have been defined as good and evil it is hard to tease out those from its design philosophy. I want to make a grey moral set up and Indigo doesn't mean you're evil, you are selfish when things matter and you are looking forward to creating your future with your own hands.
Rambling aside, I think players can pick as many as 3 colors but that would water down their mark powers?
| Color | Ideals | Marks Mechanics |
| ------ | ----------------------------------------------------- | ------------------------- |
| Red | Emotions, Chaos, Freedom | Damage, Condition Removal |
| Green | Equilibrium, Introspection, Nature, Harmony | Regeneration, Empathy |
| Yellow | Faith, Collectivism, Order, Spiritual | Bolstering, Magic |
| Blue | Logic, Knowledge, Progress | Leverage, Magic |
| Indigo | Individualism, Fulfilment, Indeterminism, Materialism | Inflict Condition, Deleverage, Resource Management? |
Hence, Colors offer marks more than skills/traits
### Profession
Actor's major set of aptitudes might be from here and reflect on what kind of skills the are good at. I am staying away from negative traits and such because it makes creation step rather complex. It is on my mind but not in the design philosophy. I have tried with inapt concept in my playtest but people were adverse with picking something their character would not use at all.
I tried using some of these examples in the [[DIGA One Pager]] it doesn't give you skills but outlines what kind of skillsets these guild members would have in general.
### [[The Expedition - Skill Trees]]
For the list of the detailed skill trees can be found in the link above.
> [!example]
> Apothecary is your knowledge in physiology and use of medicine. At Basic (B) you are able to treat the wounded. At Advanced (A) you can further specialize in either medicine or poison and able to create consumables related to those specialized fields. At Expert (E), you are able to combine with other skill groups such as Alchemy to create potent healing elixirs or poison.
>
> You can combine Archery(E) with Weaving(B) to create Arcane Archery with focused on Calidum to produce flame arrows. Creating such new skill would require Skill Point and you can add more derived skills under the skillset.
### Character Stats
- Health (Body + Mind): Defines your character's life force. This value is calculated by total number of Skill Points invested in Body and Soul skills.
- Stamina (Body + Soul): Defines your character's ability to perform activities. This value is calculated by total number of Skill Points invested in Body and Mind skills.
- Morale (Mind + Soul): Defines your character's will to face adversaries. This value is calculated by total number of Skill Points invested in Mind and Soul skills.
- Fatigue: Whenever one of your stat drops to 0, increase this by 1. Each level of Fatigue adds - Leverage. Your character falls unconscious when they have Fatigue 4. If you take another damage while you are unconscious with Fatigue 4, your character will die.
- Armour: Protects you from physical harms such as weapons and physical environment like traps and falling rocks.
- Barrier: Protects you from non-physical harms such as environmental and magical damage
- Speed: Determines how fast they are when it comes to movement and reaction to the surroundings. This is affected by traits and

> Geese is a Ranger with focus on tracking, she has skills with its rank in brackets; Acrobatics(B), Archery(B), Swords(A) , Nature(B), Perception(B), Survival(A) and Empathy(B). She has not specialized in any new skills other than setting her focus in Survival-Tracking and Swords-Dual
>
> Geese therefore has 6 Health, 10 Stamina and 6 Morale.
