# Dungeons and Dragons 5e Cleric Subclass Homebrew - Apostate ## Description Apostates have forsaken their deity and strayed from a divine path. However in doing so you have attained the power to siphon the divine powers of the gods without offering your devotion. ## Domain Spells [Cleric 1] Apostates do not gain domain spells by stealing from different domains. An apostate can choose a domain spells list from any of the existing domains if Apostate has a holy symbol of the deity as a part of spell preparation after a long rest. ## Bonus Proficiencies [Cleric 1] At 1st level, Apostate gains proficiency in one of the following skills of their choice: Deception, or Stealth ## Acolyte of Self [Cleric 1] At 1st level, Apostates replace their spellcasting ability modifier from Wisdom to Charisma. It is not the faithful devotion that grants the Apostate the power of the gods, rather, stealing from them with sheer persona. ## Siphoned Domain [Cleric 1] At 1st level, If the Apostate has a holy symbol or an object linked to a deity, they may spend an hour attuning to the deity to set their domain spell list. The Apostate may attempt to attune to another domain by spending an hour. They can do this number of times a day equal to their proficiency modifier. >[!error] Siphoned Domain >**25 DC**: d20+ 8 + Charisma Modifier. ## Channel Divinity: Rebuke Divine [Cleric 2] At 2nd level, whenever a divine caster uses a divine spell in Apostate's presence within 30 ft within a line of sight, Apostate may roll a Check against the spell level (DC 10 + spell level) and consume a spell slot equal slot level or higher a as **Reaction**. Upon success, Apostate has two options: - Counter the spell. - Change the target of the spell. If the attempt fails, it still consumes the spell slot. If the Apostate consumes a spell slot higher than the casted spell, they gain +1 to their roll. >[!error] Rebuke Divine >d20 + 8 + Charisma modifier If the Apostate's check is higher than its DC by factor of 2, they regain their consumed spell slot. >[!example] >If an Apostate counters a 4th divine level spell (**DC 14**) and rolled 28, Rebuke Divine does not consume a spell slot. ## Resist Divine [Cleric 6] At 6th level, Apostate gains advantage against saving throws against divine spells and effects. ## Force of Will [Cleric 8] At 8th level, Apostate adds their Charisma modifier to the damage they deal with any cleric cantrips. ## Deny Divine [Cleric 17] At 17th level, can create an area devoid of all divinity with the apostate's sheer force of will. Apostate can project an aura 30ft. Any divine spells and effects are suppressed, up to 5th spell level for up to one minute as long as the Apostate concentrates. Any spells and effects higher than 5th requires a caster level check against their **Spell DC**. Apostates can use this feature number of times per long rest equal to their Charisma modifier. %% Originates from [[40 TTRPG/42 Characters/42.20 Feats and Traits/42.21 Feats and Traits List/Apostate]]%%
